MV Liemba, Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania

2 July 2014 Stephen Armitage Leave a comment

I’d heard about a pre-first world war German vessel still plying its trade up and down Lake Tanganyika from Kigoma in Tanzania to Mpulungu in Zambia. Having failed to find any cast-iron information, i headed to Kigoma, the MV Liemba’s home port to see if it was running…

Uganda: Queen Elizabeth National Park

In Uganda, you are allowed to visit the national parks with a motorcycle. The excitement and the opportunity to ride in a park without barriers between me and the wild animals outweighed caution and off i went to visit Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Kenya: Taking the back road to Lake Baringo

16 June 2014 Stephen Armitage 2 Comments

The road to Olarabel is nice tar, where i turn off onto a nice dirt road. It’s pleasant riding through small villages where people stop and wave back. I end up on a downhill section where the track narrows, turns, becomes steeper and the tyre width path is flanked by scree. I’m stuck. I can’t back up or turn around…
