We thought the best chance of finding good internet for Christmas day would be to head to Yaounde – how wrong we were…
From my journal:
“As it got dark and we did not have any light in the hotel room, we headed to a local pizzeria which turned out to be great, enjoying a large pizza and a couple of beers each. Walking back to the hotel, we stopped into Club Safari to see what it was like. The decor was quite suspect, with zebra and leopard print seats and wall paper. It was a very modern looking club with a number of bars and pool tables, then the main room with a large dance floor, lots of laser lights sweeping the white underlit dance floor and a large helping of chrome. We had a drink, Tony enjoying a cocktail served in a hollowed out pineapple, while i had a rum and coke. Talking to the barman, we we asked if we would be able to get a t-shirt, as all the staff got new tops that night, which they were removing labels from. The barman pointed out a guy at the bar who was the proprietor. As we looked at him, he came over and we complimented his nightclub and then asked for a shirt. He obliged and then one of the staff asked us up to his office for a photo. The office was the DJ suite overlooking the still empty dance floor with modern mixing decks and a few of Mac?s controlling the music and lights.”
Hope you guy’s are well Steve? To a late Merry Christmas and an early Happy New Year to you all from the Torquay Clan!! : )
